Frequently Asked Questions?
What services do you offer at Seva Counselling?
- Anxiety, stress, trauma, depression support
- Relationship and couples counselling
- Parent and teen coaching
- Group therapy
- Online and in-person consultations
What happens in a session?
A first session is a clarity and intake discussion. Ongoing sessions look like a deeply connected and attuned conversation where we explore issues as well as the perception of those issues. I work with talk therapy, reflection, mindfulness tools, and breathwork integration when appropriate. Sessions can be direct or gentle depending on your needs.
How do online sessions work?
I offer secure online counselling via Zoom. All you need is a private space and stable internet. Online sessions are effective for therapy and coaching, especially for clients outside of Margaret River, on FIFO rosters, or those with busy schedules. Breathwork is only available in person and not online and should only ever be conducted with an experienced and trained practitioner.
How long is a session?
Standard counselling sessions are 55 minutes with the option for longer 90-minute sessions on demand. Breathwork is offered as a two-part combined package usually around three hours.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. All counselling and breathwork sessions are confidential. Exceptions only occur if safety is at risk (self-harm, child protection, or legal requirements).
How much do sessions cost?
- Standard counselling: $140 (55 minutes) or $190 (90 minutes).
- Concession: $120 (for pension and healthcare card holders and those fleeing family violence).
- Reduced rates may be available for multi-session bookings.
- Breathwork: (2-hour main session plus a 55-minute follow-up) $360 paid in advance.
- Payments are by cash or card on the day or via electronic invoice.
- Please contact in cases of financial hardship or emergency.
Important note: Medicare rebates for mental health care plans are not available for psychotherapy in Australia under current Commonwealth arrangements.
What if we’re not a good fit?
I offer a free 15-minute call to check compatibility. If it doesn’t feel right, I’ll help you find another Margaret River counsellor or online option. Fit matters more than process.
Who can work with you?
I support adults, couples, and parents as well as older teenagers. Anyone in Margaret River or remotely via online counselling can access my services. I specialise in mental health and life challenges, emotional regulation, and self-inquiry. I also work with personal development, deeper foundational exploration, and trauma processing and release.
What is breathwork and how can it help me?
Breathwork is offered as a separate, structured package for those seeking faster relief or deeper foundational personal work. It is a breathing-based process that supports emotional release, unconscious processing, and stress reduction. While most clients come for standard counselling or psychotherapy, gentle breathwork may occasionally be integrated into sessions to support insight and nervous system regulation. Standalone breathwork sessions are structured and charged differently from counselling.
How does group therapy run?
I run regular online groups focused on encounter therapy and shadow work. Groups typically run for a 10-week term (and can be ongoing) and are suitable for anyone looking to deepen personal work, explore group therapy, or include regular personal growth within a busy schedule. Because groups form and dissolve regularly, the best next step is to lodge an expression of interest. You’ll be contacted with details when a suitable group is starting.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number. Some clients notice relief in 1–3 sessions, others work longer for deeper emotional processing. We discuss a tailored plan based on your goals and progress. Different people also take different approaches to undergoing therapy and counselling. Some people undertake intensive, structured courses of work, while others are more periodic or even seasonal. I have many long-term clients who check in monthly or every two months, and then attend more regularly when navigating specific challenges or trials.
Do I need a referral or Medicare documentation?
No referral is needed. Private counselling and breathwork are fully independent services in Margaret River, WA.
What if I’m in crisis?
If you are in immediate danger or a mental health crisis, call 000 (Australia) or Lifeline 13 11 14. You can also contact your GP for a referral to clinical services with expertise in crisis management and care. Our sessions are not crisis, emergency, psychiatric, or acute mental health care.
