Welcome to Seva Counselling Margaret River
Hello and welcome
Seva Counselling is a mindfulness-based psychotherapy practice in the heart of the Margaret River region of Western Australia offering in-person as well as telehealth services for people wanting to make tangible change in their lives.
Dr VP Hately specialises in relationship, trauma and crisis work especially involving anxiety, depression and loss of purpose, as well as counselling services for parents and teens, men’s work, and integrating mindfulness practices and meditation for everyday quality of life.
Seva Counselling Margaret River takes its name from the Sanskrit word for “service”. The best and most effective service for people who are experiencing hardship is to bring a fiercely honest and tender approach to healing the wounds of the heart.
Rather than the more conventional approach to therapy that can involve a years-long process of “talking it out,” VP recognises that “understanding” the why and when and how things went so “wrong” unfortunately does little to provide relief and peace of mind.
If we want real change now, we have to cut to the core of it.
Most people reach out to a therapist for one of two reasons: they are in crisis or they’re exhausted at feeling so stuck and unhappy. Beneath all of that stew of tangled emotions there’s usually deeper feelings of hopeless and helplessness that have often run for many years.
Seva Counselling Margaret River is for those ready to take action, eliminate the stories of the past, and move towards a new way of being in the world for the sake of improved mental and physical health.
To do so, VP provides an integrated methodology drawing upon years of experience as a counsellor and professional communicator, a cathartic-style breathwork facilitator and student of higher consciousness models best expressed in the Buddhist, Taoist and Stoic approaches to life.
